That Kitchen Pantry Cabinets Look
A thing that? rare, now-a-days, Kitchen Maid cabinets, had a bin where you could put 50 pounds of flour. That? a good indicator that, when you wish to change your kitchen to look like it did in 1912, you?e going to have things LOOK like something on the outside, but ACT far different, inside. Since Kitchen Maid kitchen pantry cabinets began in that year, almost every aspect of our lives has drastically altered since then. So, a modern kitchen made to look like it might have panty cabinets, but would also need lots of storage. So, it would certainly be a transformed kitchen. Original Kitchen Maid cabinets were made almost entirely of wood; but you? probably be using veneers, as it takes far less good-quality wood to do veneers.
By 1919 "new improved" models were sporting easy clean porcelain tops. So, this was the day before plastics revolutionized our lives. Real porcelain is beautiful, but very heavy. The catalog published by the Wasmuth-Endicott company in 1924 had a "standardized" Kitchen Maid unit system available. The eighteenth century mentality based in tradition had given way to a twentieth century one; so, by 1949, near the onset of the Jet Age, a new streamlined kitchen pantry cabinets design was all the rage. The company? catalog described its products as being ?unctional and modern.?And, a typical catalog of kitchen pantry cabinets and advertisements said there were ?mprovements and discoveries?with brand new scientific, official-sounding names. Potential customers were lured into purchasing the Kitchen Maid Company? with ?omposite Construction?and ?lo-Line Styling.?Customers were informed that their cabinetry was made up of ?rainless Presdwood?and ?esinite Doors.?Composite Construction was considered to be an important departure from older methods of manufacturing cabinets. They combined the newly-found space-age aluminum with "selected hardwoods", producing really unique kitchen pantry cabinetry. So, when you?e trying to create a feel like Kitchen Maid cabinets, combine metal with wood. If you start with unfinished wood, then you can stain it to whatever kind of wood you? prefer. Also, you might prefer repainting the old cabinets to have that pantry cabinet feel. Plastic, like aluminum, was also finding its way into all kinds of products for the first time, and this included kitchen pantry cabinetry. So, add plastics to metal and wood?trying to maintain the style of the era. Older versions of the Kitchen Maid cabinet may require newer hardware, although fitting it on can prove to be a difficult endeavor. The doors seem too thin for the fittings or nails. Cabinet making lore gets lost as companies seek to improve upon earlier models. The number of things we have to store in our kitchens has gone up, however. There are now microwavable bowls and plates, storage bins, storage tins, and so many other things that you?l need room for; so ensure that you?e incorporated plenty of storage space in your design.
